Gastroenterology Nursing
Gastroenterology (GI) nurses specialize in providing care to children, adolescents, and adults with diagnosed or suspected gastrointestinal problems who are undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic treatment and/or procedures. Nursing care includes advanced assessment, client education, treatment/care planning, implementing, and evaluation. GI nurses provide care in a variety of settings: clinic or community settings, physician offices, inpatient and outpatient endoscopy departments, inpatient hospital units, and ambulatory endoscopy centres.
For registered nurses, the Canadian Nurses Association offers the following certification credential: CGN(C) - Certified in Gastroenterology Nursing Canada
