Occupational Health Nursing

Occupational health nurses work in organizations and provide care in the workplace. They focus on the worker/worker group by means of health promotion, preventing illness/injury, protecting workers from risks associated with exposure to occupational health hazards, recommending placement of workers in jobs suited to their physiological and psychological health status and restoring workers' health in a safe, healthy work environment.

For registered nurses, the Canadian Nurses Association offers the following certification credential: COHN(C) - Certified in Occupational Health Nursing Canada

Occupational Health Nurse

Helen April

I greatly enjoy my challenging role as an Occupational Health Nurse. What a diverse specialty! Besides workplace health and safety concerns, all of my former experiences in nursing are brought into play through individual issues of employees' personal lives as well as at work. Very rewarding to be able to make such a difference in people's lives.
